A New Address

The new address is 217 South Church Street. That’s right, the Metzler’s have finally moved!

If you have ever moved you know exactly what we have been through the past few weeks. Here are a few things we learned, again.  First, you never know how much stuff you have until you have to move it. Second, you realize you have stuff that you don’t really need. Third, it’s a good time to clean house.

Having gone through all that, I had to think about the “moving” that is expected of those who follow Christ.

Following a face to face meeting with God on Mt. Sinai Moses came down from the mountain and shared with the whole Israelite community the clear vision of God’s plan for them which included building the tabernacle. In response to this vision, Exodus 35:20 says, the whole Israelite community withdrew from Moses presence, and everyone who was willing and whose heart moved him came and brought an offering....

The Chronicles (36:22) report that after the fall of Jerusalem the Lord moved the heart of Cyrus king of Persia to make a proclamation throughout his realm proclaiming his appointment to build a temple for the Lord at Jerusalem.

Hebrews 11:7 says, “By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, moved with fear, prepared an ark...” His faith in God’s word moved him to build an ark in a dry, landlocked region where it was inconceivable that there would ever be enough water to float the vessel.

Now, while you may not be fond of moving your stuff, my prayer is that you may find no greater joy than moving on to new places, new heights, new depths, new opportunities, new ministries, new methods, new growth with our Lord.

Don’t ever settle for a permanent address in your spiritual life. God intends for his people to move. This may require taking an inventory of the “stuff” in your life and doing some spiritual housecleaning.  But that’s not bad, in fact, it is really good, and it feels great!  Are you ready for a new address in your spiritual life?  Share that desire with your pastors or small group and allow us to pray with you.

By the way, you are welcome to stop by and visit us in Q-ville.
